Dark Sky Unleashes Ricco, Ceremony
Dark Sky Films has been known for releasing some very strange titles since their inception (Werewolves on Wheels, anyone?), and they have every intention of continuing that tradition with two new additions they just announced for release this January 29th.
First up, Ricco the Mean Machine which, as you can see, sure as hell doesn’t look like a horror movie. It’s actually a Spanish classic in some circles because of it’s ultra-violence, one of those rarely heard-of movies Quentin Tarantino likes to cite as his favorites, just so no one knows what he’s talking about.
Ricco the Mean Machine follows the titular ex-con, out of jail and looking for revenge of the bloodiest kind against the man who not only killed his father but stole his incredibly hot girlfriend, as well. Yeah, someone’s gotta pay for that. Apparently, aside form it’s overuse of gunplay, Ricco the Mean Machine is known for it’s incredibly sexy striptease, courtesy of Barbara Bouchet. The second title out on January 29th is Tragic Ceremony, which sounds about as far from Ricco as you can get. From Ricardo Freda, known as the Maestro of Italian Gothic horror, the tale surrounds four hippies (lead by the star of I Spit on Your Grave, Camille Keaton) take shelter in a seemingly abandoned villa.
Unfortunately for them, the owners of said villa have been waiting for just such an occasion to perform a Satanic ritual. The hippies manage to get out, but run into even stranger trouble when the authorities accuse them of a Manson family-style slaughter. That’s what you get for being a hippie. Both films are presented uncut for the first time in North America and I’m sure both have their own appeal to all you weirdos. I know I can’t wait to check ‘em out myself!
