Hardy’s Cowboys Gets a Start Date
After many delays, numerous title changes and years of head-scratching trying to figure out just what Wicker Man director Robin Hardy was doing, his next film is finally going to get in front of cameras this March according to IGN.
Cowboys for Christ, based on the novel of the same name written by Hardy, uses the same sort of themes that made The Wicker Man such a strange and unusual horror film. It follows a Christian couple who travel from Texas to a Scottish village to try and win them over to Christ’s team. Though at first they’re invited in with open arms, it turns out it’s only because the village has some pretty nasty plans for the couple that will appease their own gods.
Christopher Lee will once again star as the leader of the Scottish village, which will make its parallels to The Wicker Man even more glaring. But producers CFC Films are quick to point out that Cowboys is a companion piece, not a sequel. Hey, as long as they find a way to fit in more gorgeous naked girls dancing, I’m happy.
I do have to wonder, though; has the actual Cowboys for Christ group caught wind of the film? And if so, do you think they’ll be open minded about it?
Invite missionaries into the Dread Central forums and do nasty things to them, too!
