Another Vision of From Beyond?
I guess since H.P. Lovecraft’s work is public domain, anyone and their mom can feel free to adapt it into film however they see fit, but is it really a good idea to try and redo From Beyond after Stuart Gordon made such a badass film from it once?
Apparently Shoreline Entertainment thinks so, as a new interpretation of From Beyond is listed among their pre-production titles. 24 FPS saw it first and has let the world know, we’re just keeping it alive.
The story follows Detective David Tillinghast, a modern-day Sherlock Holmes who becomes stumped by a series of bizarre mutilations. All trails lead back to his estranged brother Crawford, whom he soon finds out has invented a machine that can awaken the pineal gland in our brains, making other dimensions visible. But it’s also pulling over monsters that are doing the mutilating, so he must be stopped.
Check out Shoreline’s page for their From Beyond for another piece of concept art. We’ll keep our eyes on it to see what comes of this very strange undertaking.
Wonder how they’ll get a better cast than Gordon did in the Dread Central forums!
