DVD Releases: Cruising Nude Cannibals
Only one week to go before Thanksgiving! The best way to celebrate cultural extinction is to pick yourself up some badass horror movies! Check out the releases for Tuesday, November 13th, 2007:
Cannibal Man
Directed by Eloy de la Iglesia
A sexually confused slaughterhouse worked accidentally kills a man and the subsequently attempt to cover it up leads him to murder more folks in order to keep the secret. What follows in Cannibal Man (review) is a tame film that contains no real cannibalism but plenty of Freddy’s Revenge-like sexual tension that leads to ultimate boredom. Just murdered 10 people? Go have a relaxing swim with that guy who likes touching you just a little too much. Buy it here!
Cannibals
Directed by Jesse Franco
Smut peddler Jesse Franco gets another one of his classics out on DVD. Cannibals (review) is the strangest cash-in of the flesh eating craze as all the cannibals bare a remarkable resemblance to a certain KISS drummer. Cannibals is a mix up of wacky English dubbing, lots of hot nakedness and several long scenes of cannibalism. It may not be at the top of the food chain for this sub-genre, but where else are you going to see the Peter Criss army chow down on human meat? Buy it here!
Masters of Horror: Dream Cruise
Directed by Norio Tsuruta
Never, ever bang another man’s wife … especially if that man is a slightly insane bastard with his own boat. Oh, he also killed his wife just so he could trade up for a hotter chick. In MoH: Dream Cruise (review) things would be all good and plenty, but that ex-wife isn’t resting in piece. The hair goes flying and the creepy Japanese ghosts are plentiful in this next to last DVD release from Masters of Horror’s second season.Buy it here!
Driftwood
Directed by Ronan O’Leary
According to IMDB Driftwood is about a 16-year-old boy who is “Riddled with guilt over the loss of his rock star older brother, David Forrester becomes obsessed with death, leading his misguided parents to send him to Driftwood, an attitude-adjustment Camp for troubled youths run by the sadistic Captain Doug Kennedy and his brutal young henchman, Yates. Once there, David becomes haunted by the spirit of Jonathan, a former inmate who met a mysterious end, and a mystery whose resolution could very well be David’s only way out.” Sounds good and Uncle Creepy’s review agrees. Buy it here!
The Nude Vampire
Directed by Jean Rollin
Ah, remember those early days of the DVD? A few upstart companies around me actually tried to bring you every single disc available long before Blockbuster got on the bandwagon. One of my fondest memories was a place that stocked only horror DVD. Among them was a bountiful selection of Redemption movies. Oh, a dream come true! Plenty of sex, sex, sex and violence to go around. With a title like Nude Vampires how could you go wrong? Buy it here!
Fallen Angels
Directed by Jeff Thomas
Several skeletons are found buried in a secret chamber under a prison. The discovery releases a demon who helps slaughter those investigating the find. The blood flows quite freely in Fallen Angels (review). This pic was one of those strange films that was sort of good, sort of bad and chalk full of great horror actors. There’s so much going on in this movie it is sort of an overload. Michael Berryman, Kane Hodder, Bill Moseley and Kevin McCarthy are all there just for you! Buy it here!
Creature from the Hillbilly Lagoon
Directed by Richard Griffin
The DVD art alone for this flick makes it an easy buy, but for those who actually want information before a purchase let’s see what this movie is all about. A toxic spill at Hillbilly Lagoon has caused something to mutate into a humanoid beast that can lurk underwater and on land. Of course these sort of radioactive abortions are never happy just eating small things like fish and rabbits, so human flesh is also on the menu. Inbreds and scientists beware! Buy it here!
