‘Birder’ Exclusive Clip: An Erotically Charged Cup of Coffee
The queer erotic thriller is on the rise and I, for one, could not be happier. The latest entry in this exciting new canon of queer cinema is director Nate Dushku and writer Amnon Lourie’s feature film debut Birder. Featuring a chilling performance from Michael Emery, the new thriller navigates consent, desire, and identity through the eyes of a sociopath.
Read the full synopsis below:
A bird watcher, Kristian Brooks (Michael Emery), invades a nude queer campground on a remote lake in New Hampshire. He wears whatever cover he needs to ensnare the locals in his dark fetish in this nightmarish erotic thriller. Consent has never been more deadly.

While this clip is (mostly) safe for work, Birder is definitely NSFW in its themes and content. But Dushku and his team take so much care to portray sex, sexuality, and violence as more than just entertaining exploitation. Instead, the film is a bone-chilling portrayal of a safe space infiltrated by a hungry snake.
In her review of Birder, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote:
Ultimately, Birder is one of 2024’s indie hidden gems that deserves love for how daring the entire team was in crafting a smart, devious erotic thriller navigating kink, sex, intimacy, and identity. This film is the perfect example of why queer filmmakers should be trusted with queer narratives; a deep love and care about a subject often leads to genuine and nuanced storytelling.
Emery stars in the film with David J. Cork, Uki Pavlovic, Jes Davis, Cody Sloan, and Delilah DuBois.
Birder is out now on digital and VOD.
