So if you’re down to roll the dice on something different, then stick around and check it out!
Welcome back for your Daily Dose of indie horror! Returning after a brief hiatus, today we have Peripeteia by developer Ninth Exodus. The game is heavily inspired by titles like Half-Life 2 and Deus Ex. As friend of the Dread Dave Oshry lovingly describes, the game is “jank/10.”
Peripeteia has you playing as a cyborg named Marie. She is a former soldier looking for work in a cyberpunk city in post-Soviet Poland. With political factions vying for control of the city, you must decide who to ally with in order to survive and thrive.
The aesthetic and atmosphere is reminiscent of Half-Life 2 and perhaps a bit of E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy. But the gameplay is pure Deus Ex. When stealth fails, start shooting. When shooting fails, climb around. The Peripeteia demo shows off the massive open maps you’ll be in, with dangerous ledges overlooking the sides of massive buildings. The game is all about exploration. Just be sure to use that quicksave.
