This Underrated Stephen King Miniseries Is Now Streaming On Max: “If you haven’t seen it, you must.”

We love it when our favorite horror authors recommend the work of our other favorites. It is extra cool when it leads to more people discovering hidden streamer gems. So, we took notes when Tananarive Due tweeted that she was watching this Stephen King miniseries for the third time.
Turns out Tananarive Due is a huge fan, of both the novel and the miniseries, The Outsider. Due recommended the show to her Twitter followers and shared part of why this limited series is her jam.

I have been a longtime fan of Tananarive Due and Stephen King’s mutual Twitter admiration for each other. However, this was the first time I was unfamiliar with the title mentioned. Is The Outsider also the one King miniseries that flew under your radar? If so, no worries. I took notes in case Professor Due gives us a pop quiz later.
In the series,
“The Outsider begins by following an investigation which at first seems like it will be simple and straightforward but things change as it leads into the gruesome murder of a young boy by a seasoned cop. When an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case, it leads the investigators to question everything they believe in. The character of Holly Gibney from Mr. Mercedes is a major character in this series.”
The Outsider was created by Richard Price. The series is based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. The show stars Ben Mendelsohn, Bill Camp, Jeremy Bobb, Julianne Nicholson, Mare Winningham, Paddy Considine, Yul Vazquez, and Cynthia Erivo.

I assume many of us missed out on The Outsider because it had the misfortune of debuting in 2020. That was not a good year for many of us, so we collectively watched Tiger King and dissociated as a society. I am glad Tananarive Due brought this title to our attention.
