Guillermo del Toro Praises Chilling Cult Disney Film As A “Masterpiece”

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is a man of few words on Twitter. However, when he does make with the verbiage it’s usually to sing the praises of very unique movies. 

The Crimson Peak director recently retweeted a post about the dark and twisty Disney film Return To Oz. He also managed to sum up his thoughts in one word.

Rotten Tomatoes Synopsis

“Dorothy discovers she is back in the land of Oz, and finds the yellow brick road is now a pile of rubble, and the Emerald City is in ruins. Discovering that the magical land is now under the control of an evil empire, she sets off to rescue the scarecrow, the tin man and the lion with the help of her new friends.

Return To Oz was directed by Walter Murch. The film was written by Walter Murch and Gill Dennis. It is based on the books The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz by L. Frank Baum. It stars Fairuza Balk, Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh, and Piper Laurie.
