With Memorial Day officially kicking off summer, if you’re a party person who’s also a bit of a fangbanger, then you’ll want to check out True Blood Drinks & Bites before your next shindig. You’re guaranteed a bayou buffet no Trubie can resist along with some previously unseen photos!
HBO and Chronicle Books are releasing True Blood Drinks & Bites, a cookbook inspired by the hit series that focuses on cocktails and appetizers, on June 11th.
Synopsis:
“It’s all about casting off the empty shell of what’s dead and embracing the mysteries of what is yet to come. We are gonna have a wicked good time tonight. I can just feel it in my bones.”—Maryann Forrester
Drink up, y’all! Bon temps means “good times,” which in Renard Parish also means nerve-calmin’ drinks and finger-lickin’ victuals. Featuring forty-five themed recipes inspired by the namesake HBO original series, and geared toward the ravenous fans who love to gather for weekly watch parties, True Blood Drinks & Bites brings the good times of Bon Temps home. From often-ordered refreshments at Merlotte’s and Fangtasia to the Fortenberrys’ family recipes for the best finger foods around, here are mixed drinks for teetotalers and boozehounds alike plus bites for all appetites.
In True Blood Drinks & Bites, these delicious “in-world” appetizers and libations mix and mingle with quotes and commentary from the characters themselves that are accompanied by original unpublished photography from Seasons 1-5. Sip and nibble as the drama goes down onscreen, or quench your cravings in between episodes—how about Scorn Fritters and Cheese Stakes washed down with an ice-cold Spirit Lifter? Or a Maenad a Trois paired with Skinwalkers and Vamp Repellent?
True Blood Drinks & Bites, by Gianna Sobol, Alan Ball, and Benjamin Hayes, contains recipes by Dawn Yanigahara with photographs by Alex Farnum. Sobol is an associate producer on HBO’s hit show “True Blood’; she writes for HBO.com and edits the New York Times bestselling True Blood graphic novels. Ball is the Academy Award–winning creator, writer, and producer of “True Blood.” Raised on good Southern food in Marietta, Georgia, he lives and works in Los Angeles.
