Paramount's Adam Goodman Reveres the Found Footage MediumThere are many out there who feel that the whole found footage film style may have run its cycle, but there are certainly others who would say that it’s still got a lot of mileage in it, including Paramount head honcho Adam Goodman.

“I believe it’s something that’s here to stay,” said Goodman, president of the Paramount Film Group, during the Digital Hollywood conference today in Marina del Rey. “It’s a terrific medium for filmmakers. They don’t see the medium as a barrier to entry. They don’t care about shaky cameras. For whatever reason, it just makes for a much more visceral experience for the audience”.

Here are the facts: Found footage films are not the problem. It’s finding GOOD found footage movies, just like any other genre, that is the real task. The bummer of it all is because these things are so easy to come up with and inexpensive to make – with every genre from comedy to horror – the market is absolutely saturated and there are deep bogs of muddy water to weed through to get to the good ones.
