Oh, how we love stories like this one! A hacker briefly commandeered the Emergency Alert System of TV station KRTV in Great Falls, Montana, yesterday and informed viewers that a zombie apocalypse was under way.
Along with the crawl you’ll see in the video below, a voice calmly stated during the station’s broadcast of “The Steve Wilkos Show” that “dead bodies are rising from their graves.” The alert was quickly pulled, and the station issued the following apology:
Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and The CW that “dead bodies are rising from their graves” in several Montana counties. This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency. Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.
Darn. Guess we’ll have to wait a little while longer for the real thing and be content with watching “The Walking Dead” in the meantime!
