Zombie Studios has unveiled a brand new horror game that will utilize the Unreal 4 engine. Players will be trapped in a creepy asylum where you must find your way out with each escape being unique. The title is set for a PC release in the second quarter of 2013 for around $20.
Players will assume the role of a woman who has awaken in an asylum. The players are not given any information on the mysterious lady. There will be very little data to start out and gamers must find their own unique ways to escape the asylum which will encourage multiple playthroughs. The environments will be procedurally-created with each one being unique. Gamers will be given a small cell phone for light and guidance in which they can use to view footprints to help them find their way out. The phone will also transmit and receive messages from the dead! Creepy, huh?! As players progress through the game they will gather other items, such as flares, which can be used to scare off creatures like phantoms! Content for the game will be released in episodic nature much like that of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead.
“We have so much content story-wise that it hopefully, whether the person manages to succeed to the end or not, will be an experience that they want to capture more of the story so they have to go back and replay, because each time you might be getting different story elements. And over the course of that time, depending on how long you decide to play and what you find, it opens up the concept of the world a little more, the back-story, what your involvement is in it, how you find yourself here and whatnot. So instead of finding the same item over and over again and saying ‘I’m not going to bother reading this piece of paper because I’ve seen it a thousand times,’ it’s different every time,” stated writer Jessica Chobot.
