Yes, we’re putting a People’s Choice Awards story right next to one about the Oscars, but at least the PCAs are willing to acknowledge the genre crowd! Read on to see which of YOUR favorites won big last night.
The People’s Choice Awards aired Wednesday night, January 9th, on CBS, and hands down the star of the show was The Hunger Games. It won in the following categories: Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Face of Heroism (for Jennifer Lawrence, who also won Favorite Movie Actress), Favorite Movie Franchise, and Favorite On-Screen Chemistry for (Jennifer Lawrence/Josh Hutcherson/Liam Hemsworth). Pretty much the only category in which it was nominated that it didn’t win was Favorite Movie Fan Following, which went to Twilight‘s Tiwhards.
Horror fared the best in the TV categories with “Supernatural” picking up both Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show and Favorite TV Fan Following (for SPNFamily). Also, despite our lukewarm reaction to its fifth season storylines, “True Blood” won Favorite Premium Cable TV Show with “Beauty and the Beast” scoring a nod as Favorite New TV Drama.
