New ALIEN 5 Concept Art Drops, Makes Me Sad

Neil Blomkamp (Elysium, District 9) was going to make an Alien film. I don’t know if you knew that, but it’s good information to have. It was going to be Alien 5. It was canceled and we ended up with a solid, but mildly disappointing alien tale in Alien: Covenant. Recently, concept artist Geoffroy Thoorens dropped some of his art from the canceled project. I’m going to show you those images, and we’ll be impressed together.

There’s lots of Alien 5 content on display. We have a queen alien in a storm. Hicks defending himself from a creature. Ripley and Hicks planning something. an offshore facility platform. a VTOL aircraft. Ripley with a smart-gun. An android having their gland removed. bombs being hauled with a power loader. and bombs eroding in storage. I’ve included some of these images below, and you can check out the rest of Thoorens personal page.

What’s on display makes me terribly sad that we didn’t get to see the totality of Blomkamp’s vision for Alien 5. He would have ignored Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection to focus on an all new story featuring classic Alien characters.

At this point we have so much concept art and information about Alien 5 that – with some effort – we could probably make it ourselves. I’m sure a fan out there somewhere is tirelessly working on a Youtube video that sums up the unmade film by gleaning info from everything that’s come out since the Alien 5‘s cancellation in 2015.
