NYX Horror Collective Speaks with KAALI KHUHI Writer/Director Terrie Samundra Thursday 11/19 @ 5 PM (PST)
NYX Horror Collective speaks to Kaali Khuhi writer/director Terrie Samundra on NYX Live, Thursday, November 19th at 5:00 PM PST.
In conversation with writer/director Terrie Samundra, Mo Moshaty and Kelly Krause of Nyx Horror Collective dive into the cinematic storytelling process of Samundra’s new film Kaali Khuhi, a Netflix Original. The chilling supernatural tale follows 10-year-old Shivangi (Riva Arora) on her journey to save her family’s village from the restless ghosts of its horrific past. Nyx and Samundra discuss making films internationally, subverting traditional genres and the changing roles of women in horror.
Synopsis:
Shivangi, a 10-year-old girl, must save her family’s village in Punjab from the restless ghosts of its horrific past.
Samundra will share the challenges of working fluidly between India and the USA as a horror filmmaker, and why she’s making it her personal mission to create horror that’s outside the box.
“The underlying story of Kaali Khuhi is rooted in the real horrors of female infanticide and the poison of patriarchy,” says Samundra. “My intention in the way the film is crafted, was to create space for the viewer to bring themselves into the story, and to make it a part of their own inner world.”
