RIP: PHANTASM Actor Ken Jones Has Passed Away

Ken Jones, aka the “Caretaker” from writer-director Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm, has passed away. Coscarelli broke the news over on Twitter.

He tweets: “I’m sorry to report that Ken Jones who starred in the most impactful scene in Phantasm has passed away today. Everyone who came in contact with Ken loved him. He was warm, talented, and a devoted family man. The fans loved meeting him in recent years at the conventions with his loving daughter Jennifer and grandson EJ by his side. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Check out his tweet below.

Jones also appeared in Coscarelli’s comedy Kenny & Company, and in Hidden Fears with Meg Foster in 1993. No cause of death was given.

The residents of a small town have begun dying under strange circumstances, leading young Mike (Michael Baldwin) to investigate. After discovering that the Tall Man (Angus Scrimm), the town’s mortician, is reanimating the dead as misshapen zombies, Mike seeks help from his older brother, Jody (Bill Thornbury), and local ice cream man Reggie (Reggie Bannister). Working together, they try to lure out and kill the Tall Man, all the while avoiding his minions and a deadly silver sphere.
