A couple of months back, we reported that Amazon Studios had abandoned their plans for a TV series based on The Dark Tower novels by Stephen King. A completed pilot (filmed in Croatia in 2019) would be locked away, never to see the light of day.
More recently, however, we reported that our friends at Lilja’s Library had scored a copy of The Dark Tower pilot, which they reviewed (along with sharing some screenshots). Catch up by following the link below.

Now, some Stephen King/Dark Tower fans are signing a petition launched on Change.org demanding to see the goods! It read, in part:
In 2019, a TV series pilot for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower book series has been filmed in Croatia for Amazon Studios with Glen Mazzara as the showrunner and starring Sam Strike, Jasper Pääkkönen (Vikings), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Elaine Cassidy, and Ivan Kaye (Vikings). The pilot already went through post-production, including the score by Bear McCreary, before Amazon decided to drop their plans for the series a couple of months ago without making an official statement or giving a specific reason.
Many of those involved and who have seen the pilot have publicly stated that it is an amazing piece of work that does the source material justice and have expressed their bewilderment about Amazon‘s decision.
Of course, there’s no telling if this petition will garner results–even when it hits its 5,000 signature benchmark. Historically, petitions have not been successful in coercing studio executives to do what fans demand, but who knows? Maybe it’ll work this time!
