This Day in Horror History: Happy Birthday, Bruce Campbell!

On this day in horror history, the man, the myth, the legend, Bruce Lorne Campbell aka Ash Williams was born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1958.

Best-known for his roles in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise, he has starred in low-budget cult classics such as Maniac Cop, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Woods, Waxwork II: Lost in Time, Darkman, Maniac Cop 2, Intruder, Escape from L.A., Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money, and Congo.

Campbell also appeared in classics shows such as The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Jack of All Trades, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Burn Notice, Fargo, Timecop, American Gothic, and reprised his role as Ash Williams on the Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead.

Not to mention cameos in Oz the Great and Powerful, Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, Sky High, and The Hudsucker Proxy. He also lent his voice to animated flicks like Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

He has also penned books such as If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor, Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way, and Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor.
