Get Shocked This Weekend!
Remember to get down to the Castro Theater in San Francisco this weekend for the Shock It To Me horror film festival. I’m dropping this reminder because this is just too damned good to miss! It starts October 5th and runs through October 7th.
Friday night you can meet Hammer film star Veronica Carleson. She’ll be screening two of her classics, Dracula Has Risen From The Grave and Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed. She’ll also be doing a Q&A moderated by local legend John Stanley, host of the old Creature Features show here in the bay area and author of The Creature Features Movie Guide and I Was A TV Horror Host. At midnight, the insomniacs can stick around for Killer Klowns From Outer Space.
Saturday brings Howling and Gremlins director Joe Dante, who will screen his films Matinee and Gremlins 2 that afternoon. Then later that evening he will show The Howling and Blood And Roses, then doing his own Q&A sessions (also hosted by John Stanley) for the fans. If your eyeball is too hairy to close by then, stick around and watch Re-Animator at midnight.
Sunday closes out with a double dose of double features; first it’s a one-two punch of classic blaxploitation horror with Blacula and Sugar Hill. Then the Devil makes his appearance with two fine examples of his handywork, Rosemary’s Baby and The Sentinel (a personal favorite)
So come on down, catch some scares, meet a couple of people behind the screams, and hang out with Dread Central! Check out Shock it to Me’s official site for exact times and location!
