Raimi Would Make Fede Alvarez’s EVIL DEAD 2 In a Split Second

Like the rest of you fellow horror fans out there, I’d love nothing more than to see a sequel to director Fede Alvarez’s 2013 remake of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead. And today we have word that Raimi himself feels the same way. During an AMA on Reddit, he said:

If Fede would write or direct it, yes, in a split second!

And as far as the future of the franchise goes, Raimi said: “Bruce, Rob [Tapert] and I are working with a young filmmaker who is writing a new Evil Dead story that he will direct.”

He adds: “I would love to direct a new Evil Dead movie… but I’d really like to do it with Bruce. And he says he’s retired the character. I hope not.”

The remake centered on Mia (Jane Levy), a drug addict, who is determined to kick the habit. To that end, she asks her brother, David (Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend, Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to accompany her to their family’s remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon. All hell breaks loose when the malevolent entity possesses Mia.
