THE NEW MUTANTS (Finally) Coming Out Next Year?

The Stand director Josh Boone’s X-Men horror movie The New Mutants with Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga, Blu Hunt, and Alice Braga has been delayed for what seems like forever now.

But today we’re hearing from Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton and X-Men Films that the movie will finally be unleashed next year.

Heaton says: “It’s coming out next year, but we filmed it almost two years ago. It’s the release [date] that’s been moved quite a while.”

He added: “If you don’t know, The New Mutants is like an X-Men spin-off. It was a comic book; Bill Sienkiewicz did it and it was an X-Men comic. It’s basically like a separate bunch of mutants. We shot this [film] a while back and its been pushed because Fox has now merged with Disney.”

New Mutants is directed by Josh Boone and produced by Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt, and Lauren Shuler Donner from a script by Boone and Knate Lee based on the comic by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod. It centers on five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a facility against their will, who must fight to escape their sins and save themselves.

It stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin / Magik, Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair / Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie / Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa / Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar / Mirage, Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes, and (maybe) Jon Hamm.
