Talk about time flying by! It was September of 2010 when last we heard anything about Saw V director David Hackl’s next project, Red Machine, but finally some casting news has come to light – for not just one, but three leading men!
Per Variety, James Marsden, Thomas Jane (pictured right), and Billy Bob Thornton are all set to star in Indomitable Entertainment and Paul Schiff Productions’ thriller Red Machine, sharing the spotlight with a live grizzly bear.
The storyline centers around two estranged brothers (Marsden and Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear: the Red Machine. Thornton will play a legendary bear expert and hunter.
Producers are Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan, and Hadeel Reda, and the script was written by J.R. Reher. Indomitable’s Dominic Ianno and Stuart Pollok will exec produce, and Wasatch Rocky Mountain Wildlife (The Edge, Legends of the Fall, The Bear) will handle animal training and care.
“In Red Machine I want to examine the thrill of very real fear,” Hackl said. “An audience is more easily drawn in by a story that they consider plausible and relatable — something that could actually take place in the real world. Just by the premise you know something bad is going to happen.”
