Will Maggie Return to THE WALKING DEAD for Season 10 or Get Her Own Spinoff?

We’re excited as hell for the return of The Walking Dead which returns from its Season 9 hiatus this Sunday on AMC at 9 PM. We can’t wait to battle The Whisperers, but when we do, it’ll be with a twinge of sadness. We’ll be missing those we lost along the way, like Karl Grimes, Rick Grimes, and Jesus. We’ll also have empty spots in our hearts for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) who is currently MIA in the world of TWD, and certainly won’t return this season.

So, can we expect Maggie to return for Season 10 (officially announced earlier this week)? Maybe—or maybe Maggie will star in her own Walking Dead spinoff. Cohan gave some scintillating statements while on a press tour for her new ABC dramedy, Whiskey Cavalier. Deadline was first to report on her comments regarding the possibility of a Maggie spinoff:

“There may have been some conversations but everything is so early days ambiguous. We’ll have to see what happens.”

As for the chances she’ll return to The Walking Dead, Cohan was sort of cagey:

“I’ve done the show for a long time, so it was a long time to be in any character. Sometimes, you just get quiet and listen to your inner guidance and [decide] it’s time to multitask.”

Possible translation: “I may be willing to return if the price is right and it doesn’t conflict with my other projects, which I clearly find more creatively satisfying.”

We’ll miss you Maggie—or perhaps we’ll see you soon. Time will tell. You can check out the synopsis and trailer for The Walking Dead’s midseason return below.

Synopsis:
Season 9 finds our groups of survivors, both old and new, continuing to deal with the impact of events that took place during the six years that have passed. Since the disappearance of Rick, many of these characters have become strangers to each other, and in some ways, strangers to themselves. What they do know is that they are in undeniable danger. They will soon realize the world just beyond does not operate as they thought. The group’s rules and ways of survival no longer guarantee their safety. A whole new threat has crossed their paths, and they soon discover it’s unlike any threat they have encountered or endured before. The group will start to question what they think they see. What may appear to be normal in this post-apocalyptic world could actually be more disturbing and terrifying than when the apocalypse first broke out. All that is certain is the stakes are high and numerous.
