BENDY AND THE INK MACHINE Spilling Onto Consoles Next Month

Halloween is almost upon us, and that means we can also look forward to the influx of horror games released around this time of year. One of the most interesting new titles is Bendy and the Ink Machine, which debuted on Steam last year, and will finally be heading to PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, before arriving on the Switch on November 20. It will be priced at $19.99 on the first two systems, and at $29.99 on the Switch.
While the PC version was released in episodic installments, the console version, which will be published by Rooster Teeth Games, will include the full package, so you won’t have to spend extra to reach the end. However, physical copies will only be available at GameStop, so console owners may have to settle for a digital download instead.
As you would expect from a game called Bendy and the Ink Machine, the premise is about as weird as it can get. Set in the 1960s, the plot focuses on an elderly animator named Henry, who returns to his old studio, only to discover that it has been overrun by sinister cartoon creatures created by a malevolent printing device. As Henry navigates the nightmarish environment which was once his former workplace, he will be forced to fight the demons based on his drawings using any weapons he can get his hands on, including plungers, syringes, and eventually, a Thompson Submachine Gun. If that premise sounds crazy to you, that’s because it is.
Similar to Cuphead, Bendy employs an art style reminiscent of 1930s animation, which can be incredibly creepy when used in the right way. Canadian developer Joey Drew Studios Inc. have promised that the game will “forever ruin your childhood love of cartoons”, so don’t say you were not warned.
Bendy and the Ink Machine proved to be such a hit on the indie scene that it received a ton of tie-in merchandise, including plushies and Funko figures. The titular character of Bendy, who was, unsurprisingly, based on the Devil, has also become something of a mascot thanks to the recognition his game has earned, so we can expect to see a lot more of him in the near future. Especially if we ever get a sequel.
