RKO Brings Back the Dead

Isle of the DeadRKO is getting back in the horror business but, like so many studios these days, instead of coming up with new and original ideas, ideas that back in their day helped put them on the map, they’re just remaking their own stuff.

The Hollywood Reporter got word on RKO’s upcoming remake of Isle of the Dead; the original starred Boris Karloff as a Greek military commander on an island when a horrible plague breaks out. Soon the locals begin to think a vampire demon is the cause of all the problems. The remake will shift locations from Greece to Afghanistan.

Brian Horiuchi and Matt Lazarus are set to pen the redux, marking their first team up; no director has been named yet.

Personally I think it’s a bit sad that RKO can’t find something original to stick their names on, but if they’re remaking a classic like Isle of the Dead, I really hope the writing duo have some new ideas to bring to the table. Keep it here for more!
