Blomkamp Assures Us ROBOCOP RETURNS Will Be Hard R

I’d buy that for a dollar!

Earlier this week we let you guys know that MGM and director Neill Blomkamp are making a direct sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s classic sci-fi action flick, RoboCop.

Verhoeven’s original vision was violent as all hell, with blown off limbs and melting bodies left and right. But will this new film be as violent as Verhoeven’s original vision? Doubtful. But all the same, will the studio even let Blomkamp make his film R rated?

thank all the Gods it looks like the answer to that burning question is YES. Blomkamp took to Twitter to answer a fellow fan’s question about just that.

Orignal synopsis:

In a violent, near-apocalyptic Detroit, evil corporation Omni Consumer Products wins a contract from the city government to privatize the police force. To test their crime-eradicating cyborgs, the company leads street cop Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) into an armed confrontation with crime lord Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) so they can use his body to support their untested RoboCop prototype. But when RoboCop learns of the company’s nefarious plans, he turns on his masters.
