Kat Wood Sells Sci-Fi Thriller GENUS to Pascal Pictures

Amy Pascal and her Pascal Pictures have just picked up the rights to a sci-fi thriller pitch from screenwriter Kat Wood. The thriller is called Genus and is about a scientist who accidentally brings back a prehistoric form of human species.
The project is set in modern day and has a strong female lead Deadline reports. It was picked up by Pascal following a competitive bidding situation and marks the second project Pascal has bought from Wood, following another sci-fi project, Envoy.
Wood was a former scientist and journalist for the BBC before starting her career as a screenwriter.
A “prehistoric form of human species”, you say? Huh.
That sounds like a better way to say this is an upcoming “Cavemen let loose in modern-day” flick if you ask me. “Encino Man meets The Relic” might be an even better pitch.
