Listen to Soundtrack Samples from Praey for the Gods
After raising just over half a million dollars via a Kickstarter campaign, No Matter Studios has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on its fantasy adventure game Praey for the Gods. And while it’s not set to be released until next year, two samples of the game’s soundtrack were uploaded to YouTube. Both were composed by Ian Dorsch, who previously worked on Gears of War 3.
Clearly inspired by Shadow of the Colossus, Praey for the Gods takes place in an isolated land blanketed with snow, which would probably look beautiful if it wasn’t for the gigantic god monsters blocking the landscape. The first track, titled “Hymn”, will be heard in a ruined temple and, appropriately, sounds like something you would expect to hear in a church. The second, titled “Awakening”, is apparently listened to on a loop by the devs. Both of them sound pretty morbid, but I guess that’s the mood they were going for.
Note that the game was originally titled Pray for the Gods, but No Matter was forced to slightly change the spelling of the first word due to a dispute with Bethesda over fears that consumers would confuse it with their game, Prey (Bethesda’s VP of marketing Pete Hines said that the company had no choice but to request the change).
Either way, we’ll be able to hunt god monsters to extinction (which I guess would force religious folk to convert to atheism) when Praey for the Gods arrives on PC and consoles next year.
