Eddie Izzard to lend his throat to IgorEddie Izzard is a weird replacement for Jeremy Piven, luckily in this case it’s just his voice and not, say, a body double. Ew.

The Hollywood Reporter found out that Izzard is taking over Piven’s voice gig in The Weinstein Company’s CG animated film Igor, and that the company has inked a deal with IDW for a series of comics that follow the movie’s story as well as prequel and sequel titles.

For IDW the plan is to release the prequel in May or June of next year followed by the comics detailing the film’s plot, then getting them all together for a nice big book in time for the release of Igor in theaters October of 2008.

For Izzard, he will be filling the shoes of Schadenfreude, Igor’s nemesis in the world of evil scientists who plot to win the annual Evil Science Fair.
