NSFW Exclusive: Raise Those Metal Horns and Celebrate Halloween With Bulletbelt’s “Cloak the Night”!
Tomorrow sees the start of Halloween week, so let’s enter it with our horns raised high and metal in our hearts! To help you in this endeavor, we’re premiering “Cloak the Night”, the latest video from Wellington, New Zealand metal band Bulletbelt, who wrote the title track for Deathgasm! Wildly NSFW yet undeniably incredible, the video, directed by Aleksander Sakowski, is a visual spectacle of monsters, horror, and nudity, all overlaid by the band’s ripping, in-your-face metal viciousness.
Sakowski explains the video by saying, “My goal was to create a renaissance-style painting using surrealist symbols influenced by Beksinski and Jodorowsky. I wanted the themes to be provacative, intimate and messy, using minimalist concepts. The intensity of the music is juxtaposed against protracted shots which is all brought together with the post visual effects. The lead actors were partners in real life, so this allowed me to push their performances, delivering intimate moments that explored the power struggle between dogmatic institutions, man and women.”
Speaking about Nine Centuries, the album the song appears on, vocalist Jolene Tempest states, “This album is about the Burning Times, the witch hunts; Nine Centuries is about murder in the name of God, about the injustices of the past, the atrocities orchestrated by mass organised religion, and speaking the truth about an evil, horrific and vengeful time in our history.”
You can see the video below and make sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for Nine Centuries, which will be coming out soon!
