Takashi Shimizu has, hopefully, put the world of Ju-On behind him for good. His upcoming supernatural film sounds like a departure from the world of lingering curses and black-haired ghosts. Or does it?
Deadline is reporting that Shimizu (The Grudge) will helm Flight 75 for CBS Films, in which the passengers on a transpacific airliner encounter what appears to be a supernatural force. Not much else is known about the story yet, but the film is shaping up to have an impressive pedigree behind the scenes. Taka Ichise (The Grudge) will produce with The Ring‘s Roy Lee and Insidious‘ Steven Schneider. That’s a solid collection of guys who’ve had great success in the world of supernatural horror.
But if there’s a meowing Asian child anywhere to be found, I’m going to hit someone. Keep your eyes here, guys; we’ll bring you all the news regarding Shimizu’s return to US horror as we get our grubby little hands on it. I’m looking to see this talented filmmaker redeem himself for the outright debacle that was The Grudge 2. Everyone deserves a second chance, even though I’m still reeling from seeing that disaster in theaters.
