If you’re a fan of Schwartz and Gammell’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and I have yet to meet a horror fan who isn’t, then hopefully you’ve heard about Nightmare Soup, which can only be described as a loving tribute and a spiritual successor to those charming stories and ghastly illustrations that haunted so many of us over the course of our lives.

With stories written by Jake Tri and illustrations by Andy Sciazko, you’d never guess that Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark ever went away. In fact, the transition is so seamless, you’l feel right at home from the initial story and the first image you come across.

Coming on October 1st will be Nightmare Soup 2, which we’re told by inside sources is, “…even better, with longer, scarier stories than the first.” That being said, since these stories are aimed at the youth, they’ll still be age appropriate in both content and length. Pre-orders for the book are already open and anyone who snags a copy early will get, “…a free digital edition with bonus stories and extra illustrations not included in the physical version.

To celebrate this upcoming release, we not only want to show you the trailer for the sequel but we also got our hands on several exclusive images, all of which can be seen below!
