First Look at Phantasm V?
No, not exactly, but it sure is a good sign!
Don Coscarelli recently recorded a video tribute to the Alamo Drafthouse, the original of which is sadly closing it’s doors, but before he gets to talking about the Drafthouse (and dies a horribly ironic way) he’s watching something very interesting on the monitor. Check it out:
So we’ve learned that this footage isn’t exactly from a new Phantasm movie, but it was shot recently when Coscarelli held a reading with Phantasm stalwarts Angus Scrimm and Mike Baldwin. You can tell it’s not really from the movie as neither actor is wearing their usual attire, but it’s evident that something is moving forward on Phantasm V if Don’s holding readings for it.
Apparently the script was co-written with “Incident On and Off a Mountain Road” screenwriter Steve Ramano and has been done for a while now. Now it’s just a matter of it getting in front of cameras, which, according to our sources, is something a lot closer to happening than most realize.
Some rather sad info from the same sources is that Bubba Nosferatu is dead in the water, at least for now. We’ve heard two things; that Bruce Campbell has not been approached for it, or that he said he couldn’t do it because of his new show “Burn Notice” and the possible My Name is Bruce sequel. Either way it’s too bad that it’s not happening soon, but you really never know what could come up down the road.
We’ll keep our ears and eyes open for more Phantasm V news and let you know more when we do!
