As champions of indie cinema, Dread Central is often privy to early details on upcoming projects, and today we have for you a first look at Kristian Day’s Vessel in the form of a very preliminary plot breakdown and stills from the film along with two different posters.
Vessel stars actor, author, and public speaker Frank Meeink. He wrote the book Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead, and a major TV network just picked up a new reality show he’ll be hosting. It also stars Vanessa Giselle, Jerika Rangel, Ryan Kolder, and Barron Christian. All the make-up was done by Patrick Boltinghouse of Vanity and Glamour.
Vessel was produced, directed, written, and photographed by Kristian Day and inspired by an idea from Marcus Koch (100 Tears, Fell). It was shot during 2010 in Des Moines, Iowa, and is currently in post production aiming for an October 2011 release.
According to Day, “The film is about drug abuse, seduction, and paranoia. I have kept things very secret and intend to until the film’s premiere. If I was going to compare the film to anything, it would be a hybrid of Roger Corman’s The Trip and Lodge Kerrigan’s Clean, Shaven.”
