Gold Circle gets rights to Thomas Wheeler's ArcanumHoly shit, this movie sounds ripe with potential, too! It’s a good morning for interesting projects, it seems.

Gold Circle Films (White Noise, Slither) have nabbed the rights to Thomas Wheeler’s 2004 fantasy/horror/adventure novel The Arcanum out of turnaround from the putzes over at Miramax, who likely had no idea what to do with it, according to Variety this morning.

The tale is set in 1919 and tells of the eponymous group, made up of Arthur Conan Doyle, Harry Houdini, HP Lovecraft and Marie Laveau, as they battle demons in the early days of New York City, including a serial killer of angels.

I repeat; holy shit!

Arcanum is out to directors as we speak, with Gold Circle seeing great franchise potential in the concept, and rightly so. To get an idea what we’re in for when the project comes to fruition, click here to get The Arcanum through Evilshop!
