The Revenge Fits the Crime in Act of Vengeance; New DVD Release Incoming
Rape is never an easy topic to address in film, as people usually find it extremely difficult to even discuss. Which is why the 1974 film Rape Squad became so hard to find for many years. The title alone clearly shows how people would have been uncomfortable with the film.
Well, it’s finally getting its due in the form of a new Australian DVD under the more consumer-friendly title Act of Vengeance that will include a ton of special features. There’ll even be a limited edition VHS-DVD combo pack, limited to 100 copies. VHS contains bonus trailer reel of titles from the Palace Explosive Video label including The Beyond, Cannibal Apocalypse, I Spit on Your Grave, The Killing of America, Shivers, Toxic Zombies, Mayhem, Savage Man Savage Beast, This Violent World, and more. NOTE: VHS IS PAL ONLY!
The DVD edition includes an exclusive 30-minute interview with cast member Jennifer Lee-Pryor, audio commentary by Alexandra Heller-Nichols (author of Rape-Revenge: A Case Study) and Zak Hepburn (Astor Theatre, Palace Films), theatrical and home video trailers, plus an extensive booklet featuring liner notes by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Dean Brandum, Robin Bougie, and Leon O’Regan, home video and theatrical art, drive-in ads, press kits, ad mats, production stills, and more!
From director Bob Kelljan (Count Yorga The Vampire, Scream Blacula Scream) and producer Buzz Feishtans (Total Recall, Die Hard, Rambo), Act of Vengeance will be available July 2016 from EX Film.
