Slasher Movies Get the 16-Bit Treatment in Camp Sunshine
If you ever wondered what the upcoming Friday the 13th game would have been like had it been released on the SNES, then have a look at the trailer below for Camp Sunshine, a 16-bit horror RPG.
Coming from a team of two developers, it follows a kid at summer camp who wakes up in the middle of the night to discover that everyone else has been slaughtered. Guess the legendary killer Isaac Illerman wasn’t a legend after all. So it’s up to you and your trusty flashlight to somehow put a stop to him once and for all.
If you’re a fan of both horror games and throwbacks to retro gaming, head over to Facebook and Indiegogo to check out Camp Sunshine in all its blood-soaked, 16-bit glory.
Synopsis:
Camp Sunshine is our first full-length game and sees you take on the role of Jez (or whatever you’d like to call him) as he gets dropped off at summer camp. He awakes in the middle of the night to find his camp deserted and covered in blood as the terrifying Isaac Illerman comes back from the dead to wreak his revenge against the campers!
You’ll be able to explore the entire camp, from dorms and shacks to the head offices, counselors’ quarters, and lunch rooms, as you piece together why Isaac is still at large and try to put an end to the bloodshed.
As Jez, you will be armed with your trusty flashlight. However, the batteries do run out so you’ll need to explore the camp to find supplies, batteries, energy drinks, food, and diary pages to unlock the hidden past.
The game is an homage to 16-bit RPG’s from our youth and our favourite genre too! We grew up watching Jason, Freddy, Candyman, and Hellraiser and want to create a game that proves that it’s about the story and atmosphere rather than fancy graphics with trillions of polygons!
