Ghostly Woman Photographed in Texas Museum in The Gasp Menagerie

This one is local to me and just extremely weird.

Regular readers will know what I look for is evidence that simply has to be one of two things: real or a hoax.  I don’t like blobsquatches, mists, or other photographic or video evidence that could be any number of things.  What I seek for the Menagerie are things that either must be truly inexplicable or extremely solid hoaxes, no in-between.

This falls into that rare category.

The story, brought to us by the Dallas Observer, is this: A man was taking photos of his niece and nephews at the Fort Worth Museum, using his iPad.  Later, looking through the photos, he found the following shot:

He claims he doesn’t recall seeing the woman in the background.  The children seem to be oblivious.  Her appearance is not one that small children are likely to ignore.

That said, yes, it looks like a woman in a costume.  Here’s where we have to look at the entire setting: Why would that woman be dressed like that in that setting?  If it’s a hoax, as in, she was there intentionally to pose for this photo, why were none of the children paying attention to her?  If she was there for some other purpose (a Halloween party, for example), why are none of the children in costume, and why is her outfit so ghoulish and out of place for the children’s area of a museum?

Redditors lightened the photo to show more detail:

That’s… that’s just really weird.  The length of the forearm and the shape of the elbow and hand are all wrong.  This hearkens back to debunking Bigfoot photos: checking biometrics.  That just doesn’t look like a human arm and hand.  Certainly not a functional one.  It also appears we can see floor where the legs should be, but there’s what looks like legs curled up on the figure’s lower half with shoes dangling.  So yes, while it isn’t clear, it appears the figure is FLOATING behind one of the small shopping carts.

The original story remarks that the museum has had things going bump in the night since an exhibit on the Titanic was on display.  Is this a lost spirit?  A demonic presence?  A really weird photo of a woman in a strange costume?

Have a weird story? Potential evidence of the supernatural, or at least something hard to explain? Spot any creepy critters out there roaming the wilds? LET ME KNOW! I’d love to talk about it and possibly write it up right here in the Gasp Menagerie. You’ll get appropriate credit, of course, and everyone else will get fresh creepy (as opposed to fresh Creepy, which, trust me… nobody wants that) to enjoy. As always, I can be found at mrdark@dreadcentral.com. Now get out there, find some weird, and let’s get this party started.
