Yet Another Game Takes Inspiration from Silent Hills

It seems that since Konami chose to cancel Silent Hills, some good is coming out of the bad as not one, but two games are taking inspiration from both the interactive demo and what little we saw of Silent Hills itself.

Firstly, there’s the much hyped Allison Road, which appears to have hit a bumpĀ on Kickstarter and is starting to seem unlikely to reach its goal, and then there’s the newly announced Visage, which won’t exactly try to be a version of what Silent Hills could have been but will still take inspiration from it, as developer Sad Square Studio confirmed when asked about their connection to the game:

We won’t hide it, we were inspired by that great game. Furthermore, the decision to cancel Silent Hills pushed us to develop an awesome and terrifying game to quench the horror fan’s thirst! That said, we are not trying in any case to become some kind of P.T. successor. We are driven by the lack of truly terrifying games on the market like Alien: Isolation, P.T., F.E.A.R., Amnesia: The Dark Descent and such. We probably could count them on our two hands =(. We really hope some people will consider adding our game to that list!

The Streisand Effect is in full force, as Konami’s quiet cancellation of Silent Hills and their refusal to acknowledge either that or the dismissal of Hideo Kojima has clearly drawn attention to something that they hoped would quietly fade away like the dumbasses that they now are.

Visage has a very small development team so don’t expect a release date anytime soon. It will eventually launch for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Suck it, Konami!
