Fugitive Arrested After Being Spotted in Horror Film Marla Mae
We’ve posted some pretty wild stories here on Dread over the years, but we’re thinking this one might take the proverbial cake. An on-the-run fugitive was arrested this past weekend after being spotted on the set of a low-budget horror movie, and we’ve got the full story today. Read on!
Per The News Tribune, Jason Stange was sentenced to 117 months in prison back in 2006, after pleading guilty to an armed bank robbery. In July of 2014, Stange violated his probation, disappearing from a halfway house in Washington and becoming a wanted fugitive.
Exactly one year after Stange ran from the law, he was spotted in an article posted over on The Olympian last week, which covered the production of a local horror film called Marla Mae. Stange appeared in two photos included in the article, leading to his arrest this past Friday.
The 44-year-old plays a leading role in the movie, which wrapped up filming last week in Olympia, Washington. The U.S. Marshal Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force tracked down the filming location from a permit and promptly arrested the fugitive/actor at a nearby restaurant.
Marla Mae is set for release next year, and the film’s producer says that Stange will remain in the final cut – while also noting that everyone on set liked him and found him to be pleasant. Stange plays the part of Dr. Lourdes, a Planned Parenthood physician who commits a deranged act.
Check out one of the incriminating set photos below along with Marla Mae‘s trailer and poster art.
