America Braces for Turkish Rampage
This news item has nothing to do with the horror genre. Who cares? It’s Friday; we could all use a good laugh, and I doubt you’ll see anything funnier today than this trailer for the American release of the 1980’s Turkish Rambo rip-off Rampage.
Turkey is a country that’s cinema once loved very much to blatantly rip-off popular Hollywood entertainment in the cheapest, most shameless, and ridiculous manner possible. Jaws, The Wizard of Oz, Star Wars, The Exorcist, Star Trek, E.T., Spider-Man, Batman, and even Captain America have all gotten the absurdist Turkish movie treatment. These knock-offs are generally hard to find even in bootleg format and don’t even think about getting any sort of translation.
Another popular Hollywood creation that Turkish-ized is Rambo. Or should I say Rampage? And thanks to the great people at Dark Maze, good ol’ Turkish Rambo is on his way to the USA, English dubbed and ready to kick copious amounts of ass. April 24th is date Turkish Rambo’s American rampage begins.
“Turkey does not have an army. They have SERDAR.
Serdar wipes out terrorists with his bare hands! Also, a rocket launcher.
From the director of TURKISH STAR WARS and TURKISH JAWS comes RAMPAGE, an epic tale of murder and mayhem, vengeance and destruction, betrayal and kebabs. Now, Dark Maze Studios is bringing it to DVD for its first official release in 23 years! We sent an elite commando squad to rescue the film from a remote Turkish vault and digitally remastered it… because no one else would dare.
The RAMPAGE DVD comes fully equipped with audio commentary, a making-of featurette, poster & lobby card gallery, mini poster insert, retro packaging, and more.”
A brief Americanized trailer for the Turkified Rampage is now online just in case you needed further convincing. Behold the 55-second spectacle that is the Rampage trailer.
