Perception Gives A Glimpse Into Being Blind And Haunted
If you are an ardent follower of my reporting (and why wouldn’t you be), you’ll fondly remember that I wrote an article on the new horror game Kickstarter for Perception. Created by a band of developers with titles like Dead Space and Bioshock under their belts, Perception takes you to new territory by putting you in the shoes of a blind person. Using sound to map your surroundings, this unique take on a somewhat played out format might just be what the doctor ordered. A few days from the end of their campaign, they released this new trailer:
The footage is from the in game engine, and while certainly not the final product, gives a good hint at the vision they have for this title. The end is in sight for the campaign, and as of now they have funded their $150k goal. Their eye is on the ball, and this trailer really lets us see what might be in store for fans of the genre. As you can see, the trailer gives us a look into the game world as it might exist in the final product, where everything might not be as it first appears.
For a project with this kind of talent and real evidence of work, it should be a slam dunk to anyone looking for a project to back. The visual style is really unique, and concept a breath of fresh air for a genre weighted down with blood spattered torture chambers dark libraries. Personally, I am very excited about this game, and I typically am not kind to the stealth/puzzler horror genre. Check it out, see if you are as excited as the rest of us here at DreadCentral, and let me know how you feel.
