Rest in Peace, Monsters HD
Oh, man, this really is a sad day for horror. The genre’s longest-running provider of high definition horror, Monsters HD, will be officially shutting its doors later this month. We knew this was coming when Dish Network stopped carrying Voom, which Monsters was part of, on its network but held out hope that something might save them. Alas, it was not to be.
From the official Monsters HD website: “TV’s first and longest-running hi-def horror and creature feature channel will cease operations and mad experiments this month. Thanks for all the screams and support over the years. Fear not – monsters never die … they always come back! Pleasant dreams, fiends.”
The folks behind the channel were always good to us here at Dread, though they never really had the budget or the time to reach out to horror fans the way they wanted to. It’s too bad, but hopefully some lessons were learned and we can see a bigger and better all-horror channel sometime in the near future.
