‘Organ Trail’ Makeup Department Head Meg Wilbur On Crafting The Film’s Disturbing Body Trauma [Watch]

Organ Trail

If horror is known for one thing, it’s gore, and lots of it. But gore doesn’t just come in the form of guts pouring out of split abdomens. In films like Organ Trail, it’s crudely stitched injuries, wind-burnt limbs, and frost-bitten faces. And that gore is even harder to pull off. Take it from the film’s makeup department head Meg Wilbur, who spent hours researching how to make each moment of bodily trauma seem as disgusting, and real, as possible.

We spoke with Wilbur about her research process, pulling off some of the film’s more terrifying injuries, and how she and her team were able to accomplish that during a freezing Montana winter. Plus, she shares her recent work with artist Melanie Martinez!
