CONTEST CLOSED! Dread Contest: Have Your Portrait Painted by “Quaid”

default-featured-image

In Anthony DiBlasi’s adaptation of Clive Barker’s short story “Dread”, one of the characters is an artist, and in anticipation of Dread‘s DVD release (along with the rest of this year’s Horrorfest entries), one lucky person can have his or her portrait painted by Nicole Balzarini, the real artist behind Quaid (Shaun Evans)’s paintings in the film.

Here are the details straight from the Horrorfest 4 Discussion Forum:

Contest Rules:
Tell us or show us what you DREAD. Submit your greatest “dread” in the form of a picture/drawing or a written account (250 words or less) for your chance to win. Winner will be chosen by director/screenwriter Anthony DiBlasi.

Submit pictures/drawings to: info@afterdarkfilms.com
To view pictures/drawings: They will be posted in the photo section of the Horrorfest forum
Written Accounts: Post your work on the Horrorfest forum under the “Dread Contest” thread
Submit by: Midnight, Friday, April 16th, 2010
Winner announced: Monday, April 19th, 2010

  • The winner may choose the style of the portrait: pre or post madness (i.e., normal or cut up and bloody).
  • The authentic oil painting will be 24″ X 30″ and will be based on a photo submitted to Nicole by the winner.
  • Winner and artist can discuss details after the winner is announced (i.e., full body or face, etc… Again, all winner’s choice.)
  • Below is one of the paintings created especially for Dread. To see the rest, go to Nicole Balzarini’s official site. To see “Quaid’s Madness” versions, be sure to get your copy of Dread (review here) on DVD on March 23rd. And visit the official Dread Facebook page, too, while you’re at it!
