Our lives have not been the same since Max brought this six-hour docuseries came into it last month. Seemingly almost everyone caught it on Discovery+ because it’s now the channel’s highest-rated telecast in three years. The Curious Case of Natalia Grace had more than 10 million viewers following along with a story so wild it’s hard to put into words.
Synopsis
“Initially assumed to be a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan with a rare bone growth disorder, Natalia was adopted by Kristine and Michael Barnett in 2010. However, the happy family dynamic soured when allegations against Natalia were brought by the Barnetts who alleged Natalia was an adult masquerading as a child with intent to harm their family. In 2013, Natalia was discovered living on her own which ignited an investigation that led to Michael and Kristine’s arrest and a firestorm of questions.”
Most people on Twitter are justifiably pissed at the neglectful adopted family. Others are shaken by this bizarre story that unfolded via this unhinged documentary.
The limited series is also available on Max (formerly HBOMax). Because of its success, a follow-up documentary, The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks, will debut later this summer.
