We love Natasha Kermani here at Dread Central. DREAD Presents, the horror distribution arm of our parent company, Epic Pictures, has released her last two films: Imitation Girl in 2018 and Lucky (now streaming on Shudder) earlier this year.

Today brings word that Kermani’s next project will be an adaptation of Joe Hill’s Dracula spinoff, Abraham’s Boys! Deadline broke the news, reporting:

The action-horror story is a follow-up of sorts to Bram Stoker’s Dracula, testing the relationships Stoker formed in his original novel. The plot follows Max and Rudy Van Helsing, who know nothing of their father Abraham’s past and cannot understand his overprotective attitude and strange behavior. To make matters worse, Abraham is becoming increasingly more unhinged, paranoid, and violent.

Abraham’s Boys is being produced by Tea Shop Productions whose previous films include 47 Meters Down, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and The Informer.

Kermani tells Deadline:

“I’ve always loved Bram Stoker’s Dracula and was immediately drawn to Joe Hill’s unique and personal take on the legend of Van Helsing. Abraham’s Boys is an exciting opportunity to look at a familiar story through a new lens, and to explore classic characters and themes in a contemporary way.”

Joe Hill, son of legendary horror author Stephen King, is the writer of the novels The Fireman, Heart-Shaped Box, and NOS4A2. He’s also the co-creator of the comic book series Locke & Key with Gabriel Rodriguez. In addition to Abraham’s Boys, Blumhouse is currently adapting his story The Black Phone (directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Ethan Hawke).
