Jaime King (Sin City, My Bloody Valentine) is the show’s star, and it will consist of eight hours, but not in the typical episodic structure. Instead, viewers can decide how much they want to digest – either small, bite-size chunks or the whole enchilada at once.
And don’t expect Z Nation‘s comedic touches… Black Summer aims to be much darker and more serious. As Schaefer explained, it takes place in the early days of the outbreak, before the apocalypse “got weird.”
In other words, count on a lot more scares than laughs as well as a healthy helping of social commentary.

The show is created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams and produced by The Asylum. Schaefer and Hyams will serve as co-showrunners.
