“Whoever knows fear burns at the touch of R.L. Stine!” Back in October we reported that the Goosebumps author would be writing a comic for Marvel, which the New York Times has now confirmed will be a five-issue Man-Thing miniseries. German Peralta and Daniel Johnson will draw the interiors, whilst Tyler Crook will provide the covers.

Each issue will also feature a bonus short horror story written by Stine, and the series is inspired by the original Tales From the Crypt comics, of which he’s a big fan. He was offered a list of Marvel characters to write about and settled on Man-Thing because of his love of swamp creatures, which is evidenced by the fact that they show up regularly in the Goosebumps series.

Man-Thing first appeared in Savage Tales #1 in 1971 and was the star of his own R-rated film back in 2005. In Stine’s new series, he travels to California to discover why he has yet to be featured in a new movie, and for the first time he’ll possess the power of speech. We’ll hear what he has to say when #1 arrives in March.
