Thanks to the tremendous dips in the economy this year, big business has taken lots of hits. Companies have folded, stocks crashed, jobs lost, and of course, the country is in a state of recession. Yay, W! Some of these companies deserve a public spanking on the grandest scale imaginable. Others handle their dirty laundry a bit differently. Take Berm-Tech for example. Screw up there, and it’s a stake through the heart and a trip to the crematorium for you. Being a vampire isn’t easy. Especially when you’re part of America’s workforce.
Things were just fine at Berm-Tech until the head vampire in charge (a hilarious Hammond) contracts a deadly disease that makes him senile. This probably wouldn’t have been such a big deal if the disease didn’t make him forget that he was a vampire and that he shouldn’t be killing off his toothy colleagues. Of course, the company then comes under investigation, and the new people walking around the normally hallowed halls end up uncovering a plot that will shake Berm-Tech to its very foundation. For a far more in-depth review of the film and its plot, check out our other Netherbeast Incorporated review here as I agree with every word of it. I’m here to focus mainly on the film’s bountiful special features.
From there we enter a section of the DVD called Behind the NetherRegions. Here’s you will find seven different featurettes that clock in at around two hours combined. Everything is discussed without repetition, and no stone is left unturned. I have to say I was nearly as entertained learning about the film’s history as I was watching it. With so much talent involved it’s hard not to have a good time with things. In fact, I’d hazard to say that maybe the reason a commentary track wasn’t recorded was because these segments are so robust. At least that’s what I’d like to believe so I’m sticking to that theory.
Rounding out the special features is a three-minute interview with the Ronalds brothers from a local-to-them news broadcast, a jam-packed photo gallery, and of course the trailer. As I said, there’s some really good stuff here that’s chock-full of info!
Netherbeast Incorporated is heavy on comedy and extremely light on any real vamp action or gore. While this may disappoint some fans initially, I’m pretty sure people will dig on it regardless. Bottom line? If you’re looking for something a bit out of the norm or if you’re fans of movies like Shaun of the Dead, see this flick ASAP! The Eye of the Jackal commands it!
